Developmental Milestones - Preschool Activities For The Preschool Years
At preschool age, a child's world is dominated by fantasies and imaginations.
At this age, a child is going through many physical and mental changes. Have you ever wondered how your child is going compared to other preschool children? Developmental milestones are set of functional skills that most children do at a specific age range.
Even though each milestone has an age level you cannot determine whether your child acts on his age range or not.
The milestone includes the motor skills, sensory and thinking skills, language and social skills.
Your pediatrician uses developmental milestones to check how your toddler is developing.
Each toddler is unique.
The parent is the most important observer to a child's development. At preschool years, the child is expected to perform motor skills such as to feed himself with some spilling, hold a glass in one hand, can fold a paper and can hold a crayon, can jump with both feet, dresses himself with help, and can pedal a bicycle.
At age 3 a child is expected to recognize sounds in the environment, can count 2-3 objects, knows what food is and what is not, can follow one-step command, and knows where things usually belongs. A child can use 3-5 word sentences, knows her first name and last name, repeat simple rhymes, and try to make others laugh. Preschool children are the cutest and the amazing ones.
They learn to discover things by their own and are eager to explore their environment.
Having knowledge of the above developmental milestones for preschoolers, the next thing to question is, "How to conduct activities for preschool children for them to be prepared for kindergarten?" It is important to bear in mind that when planning to conduct an activity for preschool children, always see to it that it is in accordance with their developmental milestones. As they love to imagine and explore things, they can be easily taught with creative activities such as singing, painting, learning different shapes, size, and colors, and conducting a music lessons. Games and activities help preschoolers with physical developmental learning.
They would love to learn creative activities such as arts and crafts, music and dancing, as well as cooking. You may teach the child some easy songs and for sure they will memorize the song easily.
Painting and coloring are also some fun activities that preschoolers will never get tired off. Learning alphabets and numbers as well as reading and telling stories are also fun. They would likely enjoy the activities. Do not force the child to learn rather do it in a playful way. Introduce the kids to the world of activities to help him learn the skills. Be playful as children loves playing around.
